It's been a busy last week in June for the MuLL. Graduate student Lonie McMichael had her Summer Session 1 students create posters for an undergraduate course using the MuLL's new HP Designjet T1100. With this printer you can print posters up to 24 inches wide with no restrictions on hight.
Graduate student Ayanna Jackson asked me (Katherine) to tape her as she taught her Wednesday literature class. Once she and Dr. Rice edit her teaching video she will present this tape to her future employers and coworkers. If you would like someone to tape you as you teach, please set up an appointment with Dr. Rice or Nathan or you can check out a tripod and a camera if you want to do tape yourself.
Upward Bound came by to make 50 copies of a DVDs for the program using our DVD Duplicators. If you'd like to make several copies of DVDs, check out our video located at http://imull.info. If you have two master copies, you or we can make 10 DVDs in about 15 minutes.
The MuLL is also heading up a paper recycling program. The MuLL has placed recycling boxes next to almost every printer in the English building. If you want to throw away paper that has only been used on one side, drop it in one of the boxes and the MuLL will re-use it.
This is my last day of work in the MuLL. Kim Armstrong will be working here for Summer Session 2, so if you need help with technology, come on up to room 412 and she'll help you out. Have a great summer!

Need Help Publishing a Web Site?
Web sites are a great place to provide students with class material and for students to show of their assignments in portfolios. You might also want to create a Web site if you are beginning the job search. The MuLL offers several resources if you are looking to create your own Web site for teaching or learning purposes. In our lab, you can access Dreamweaver, FrontPage, and FileZila. We can help you set up your Web site using the free Web space that is provided to you by TTU or we can provide you space on the English Department's server if you are a graduate student, faculty, or staff. We can even create your site with you if you need more help.
Vicki Ronn came by the MuLL this last week to set up her first Web website ever at www.grad.english.ttu.edu/ronn. She set up her Web site using FrontPage and she plans to use her site for her students and for future employers.

New How To's Posted Online and in the MuLL
I (Katherine) have been working on several how to videos and posters for MuLL over the last few weeks. These include instructions on how to copy VHS tapes to DVD, how to print in color on the PC, how to scan to .pdf files, how to make multiple copies of DVDs, and how to print on inkjet DVDs using. Most of these instructions are now in picture frames on the wall nearest the machines the correspond to and several of them are in videos that you can view online at imull.info.
Speaking of printing on inkjet DVDs, the MuLL has a new printer bought specifically for this purpose. If you have a conference or a class coming up in which you would like to create multiple professional looking DVDs, you can use our DVD printer and Photoshop on the iMac closest to the PC. Just make sure that you make your copies on our special white inkjet DVDs and then follow the instructions for printing on the "Printing on DVDs" poster or view our video at imull.info.

MuLL's First Blog
Today's the first day that we're using the MuLL blog. If your interested in knowing what goes on in the MuLL (the English department's Multiple Literacy Lab at Texas Tech University), we'll try to keep this blog up to date with a discussion of current and past projects happening in the MuLL or about technology in the English building. Hopefully, contributors to this blog will include Dr. Rice, Dr. Baugh, Nathan, Katherine, and Kim.
Today, I (Katherine) am going to be continuing to work on the MuLL to-do list that we have posted on the cork board. Creating a blog was one of the first items that caught my eye. I'll also start brainstorming for a new online video on how to use the HP plotter in the MuLL. We currently have two new how-to videos for how to use the DVD duplicator and for how to use the DVD printer. I'll be posting those videos later today onto the MuLL Web site at http://imull.info. Dr. Rice is currently working with Shake Hands With Your Future students on campus and using the video producing equipment provided by the MuLL.
